I recommend opening a Nationwide FlexBasic account as the Nationwide is an independent company. Whichever bank you choose, you should not use the switching service.I work within the voluntary sector, supporting vulnerable people to rebuild their lives.

It was an absolute chew trying to set up a bank account with nation wide as they wanted ID and to go into a branch which is 30 miles each way on the bus (I dont drive). So, amazingly my lovely mum paid off my debt with my bank so I could keep my current account. I'm so blown away and relieved. Ive since contacted SC and informed of this and that she doesnt want it paid back as it could have been classed as a 'loan' to include in my DPP.
When I paid off the balance, the guy said...'I can offer you an interest free transfer to a platinum card with a £3k credit limit'. I was paying off £1100!

Just want to make sure about something. You have said the overdraft has been cleared thanks to 'the bank of mum'.
Is your main current account with the overdraft facility from the same banking group as any of your other creditors? Because, if so, then that has the potential to cause problems...Please confirm...your main current account, that receives all your income, needs to be independent to stop any chance of a 'setoff'.
