    So it's agreed, the FB guy isn't a con, probably a genuine person/service. Whether it is a good idea to engage with an unknown via FB is a completely different matter.

    He's quoting +VAT so lets see his VAT Registration Number and if he's actually registered as a business for VAT; he'd have to be earning over £85k, even @ £495, that's 172 returns a year (or less if he gets the full fee work).

    It's possible, but unlikely just from Facebook (in a non-trusting environment like FB is).

    You don't have to exceed the £85k threshold to register, you can choose to register at a lower turnover if you wish.
