New Year's Eve can only mean one thing: Chibuku Shake Shake fancy dress party at Barfly and we are giving you and two friends the cahnce to be there for free.
Chibuku has done the same thing every New Year's Eve since they began, getting their merry bank of residents to perform and for one night only, shun the major guests. Whilst the entire year makes for gleefully collating line-ups, New Years Eve goes back to basics.
Undersold so the atmosphere remains a priority, underlined further with the fancy dress theme (this year 'Bad Taste'), it remains clubland's most guaranteed benchmark of quality on the 31st December. In a year that has seen the likes of Derrick May, Theo Parrish, 2ManyDJs, DJ Marky, Skream and De la Soul joining Chibuku's illustrious annals of guests, at their events at Fabric, Nation, spiritual home Barfly and a hidden forest in the Pennines, it's the residents who have truly made the club what it is.
New Year gives the chance for all the original faces of Chibuku to re-join, with Wandy at the top of the list. There at the very first party at the Lemon Lounge, Wandy's jacking house sound has evolved in equally breathtaking levels as Chibuku's own, boasting a more electronic focus and the ability to cover a plethora of angles.
Bristollian breaks fiends The Beat Monkeys bring their party attitude down, ransacking genres in an unfaltering mission to boogie, whilst Liverpool based Leo Belchetz continues to blow minds with his assaults through space age techno and groove focused house. Elsewhere Emma's technoid disco amalgamation, The No Fakin Crew's Turntable assaults, Phil Charnock's Neo-soul masterpieces and Loz's firing drum n bass rhythms show Chibuku's immense musical versatility.
And Chibuku continues to push new talent, augmented from the fact that Superfly is once again being earmarked to host the bar. After over four years of putting on parties in Liverpool, the breaks night has established itself as one of the city's leading rave soirees. This will be the third blistering collaboration between Superfly and Chibuku in 2007, further proof of Chibuku's insistence on supporting the home-grown scene within Liverpool, with their residents Dash, Ben Proudlove, Stewart MacLeod and Chibuku's own Johnny One Move joining the Beat Monkeys in the Bar.
And as ever, there's an after party somewhere for it all to carry on.
