  • Hi

I have £50 in my account until pay day on Friday. That £50 I could spend 4 times over with all the CCs. So I am pondering which one to pay it off. I will do a round up of where I am at with the CC at the end of the month. I am pleased that this weekend was a no spend weekend other than the weekly food shop. I did a meal plan and I spent £43. We had a lovely roast dinner in our new cooker. It was well deserved after a lot of jobs in the garden.

I am too impatient and here is the cc list

    cc3 £5100 now £4800
    cc4 £2600 now £2400
    cc1 £2700 now £2580
    cc2 £8200 now £7540
    cc5 £9000 now £8770
    loan £675
    Total £26,765
    May 2013 £20,000, Sep 2016 £13,700, Feb 2017 £14,490, Jul 2017 £13,100, Dec 2017 £4,800, May 2018 £3,550 Sep 2019 £27,800 Oct 2020 £19,589 Sep 2021 £9,000

I'd pay it off the one with the highest rate, if they're all on 0% then off the smallest balance
  • Hello

Just got £67 from TSB following a review of a complaint I made last yr. well that was a nice surprise and it has gone straight to cc4. Thanks Lemon Tree I took your advice. it is a 0% deal that ends Feb 2021 and will have £400 left on it by then if I carry on paying £150/month. my aim is for it to be paid off by sending extra payments where I can. CC3 is not going to be paid off by the end of the 0% deal in Dec 2020 so I have accepted that I will balance transfer if I can. the thought that in another 12 months I will have paid off more over each of my CC will hopefully give me enough wiggle room to do the switch to another 0% deal if they are still around.

I did a search recently to see if I would be offered any deals and I was preapproved for one. I did think about shifting some now, but it would just mean I would have another payment to make and it should be more logical to put that extra on the ones I have now.

  • How are your debt totals with there still being little bits of work here and there to do?

It's always tempting to move things around with 0%s but it is much better to do it a month or two before they are due to expire. There's no point using up time you still have on a 0% card. If that makes sense.

    Hi

Debt totals are not going up even with ongoing work. we are down to the last few jobs. I am holding firm and only paying and booking in work which I can pay for. We are also doing the painting ourselves and just used up our tip allocation this month rather than paying for a skip. What frustrates me is that this money could be going to the cc, I just so want to finish the work so I am not living in a mess. Xmas will not help either. but I have spread out the purchases over the last few months to try to ease the burden. I also spend very little compared to others in my family.

    Hi

another no show on an item they wanted to buy and collect from me. Why go to all the bother of arranging a collection and then not turning up! The other sale was collected on time so £30 in the kitty.

I did some xmas shopping on Saturday and got the things I wanted in the sale. I am still snapping my receipts on the shoppix app which I am hoping will give me a £20 voucher before xmas. It has slowed down recently with my reduction in spending. A catch 22 some would say. I now only have 2 more people to buy for. I know what I am getting I am just holding out for a pre xmas sale event. First of the monthly cc payments went today. It is going to be very tight this month as my pay rise was less than I thought so my big cc bill needs to be paid from this month too. I need to find £250 from somewhere. I am determined not to eat into the overdraft.

follwing and just read all pages.

couple of things stick out, you do right on keeping any left over items from the build, as someone who know people in the trades, all them off cuts they find (left by other trades who CBA etc, or collect after they do their work), well providing you know a good scrap man...
put it this way, people i know in trades often say things like "copper pipes paid for my last holiday" lol. so dont be taken in by anyone who "offers" to skip them / remove for you lol, they are doing themselves a favour not you!

secondly, i wouldnt put metal on top of the microwave, find somewhere else for the loose change!

good luck with journey and the build.

    Hi

the item was collected last night. an hour later than they said! it should not infuriate me as much as it does. 1 item less in the house to store. db2016 you should be pleased to hear the kitty is no longer on the microwave!

We have a stash of copper pipes and old radiators that we are collecting to take to the scrap person. Last time we got over £100, not expecting as much as that but anything will do.

My fridge is empty and I need to restock but the items in my online shop do not meet the min threshold for free delivery. I am determined not to just top it up. So I need to make do with freezer food or go to a physical shop.

moisture reading of the floor today with a view to the tiles being laid next week. fingers crossed, I so need flooring before xmas.

I sent the meagre interest I earn from my TSB accounts to my cc. it is the one that has the lowest balance, I need to find just under £400 now to fully pay it off at the end of the 0% deal. I am hoping all these little extras will help. It was £7.30.

I also claimed for my overcrowded train journey the other day. on a £60 ticket I got £7 back, not great but I will take it. I get them to send that directly to my cc for daily spending. Its almost like I never had the cash. But that is another cc I think I need to hide away after xmas. I am becoming too reliant on it again.

just found the xmas cards I brought in the sale last yr. Starting to write those but also look as to who I can remove from the list. those stamps cost a lot. but also the enviro impact of deliveries is getting higher. however I also saw a stat about how much carbon 1 email produces. therefore you should cut out unnecessary emails. How far do you take it all, every action we do has an impact on the environment, I am just trying to minimise where I can. I am going brown paper and raffia for my present wrapping this yr.

My lowest cc currently stands at £2300

In other news we spent so much on our white goods for the kitchen that we qualify for their cash back offer. so I am hoping the £300 that we should get comes before xmas. its on a prepaid MasterCard but I will take that.

Nearly a week since the last post and not much to report. a few more sale items but that cash went straight to the purchase of the xmas tree. that is now up and decorated, I have resisted the attempt to buy more decorations. it is not going to change the feeling we all have over xmas but it will put us further away from paying all the debt off. I just paid the plumber the final bill which was great. we should have no more large bills to pay now. We have started to have conversations about what projects to start next. however I have been holding firm and saying we cannot start anything until the debt is gone and we have cash available. lets see how long I can hold onto that. I so want to be much more responsible, but it is hard to do. the skiing holiday is also not going to happen unless we win the lottery, I am determined about that. It is a real change in behaviour for us (we don't have a summer holiday) but we need to make changes and it starts now. I have a list of my debts in front of me all day I am at work (I work from home), it reminds me why I am working and not to spend money on random internet purchases. so far so good. I have started writing my xmas cards and will be making sure I get them to people without buying stamps. I have also decided not to send a few. My shoppix points have slowed right up, I am so close to a £20 voucher but do not think I will get there before xmas. I will with time, I just need to be aware that I cannot spend more to gain points as that is counter productive.

just send off some concrete roofing samples to check for asbestos. I am sure it is not, but no one will take them until I have proof.

I managed with a small shop to fill my fridge and I have also meal planned for the last 2 weeks which has helped a lot. I have booked my xmas delivery and started filling the virtual trolley. I have then culled lots of items as they were overindulging. no one will miss them if they are no there. We are also resisting getting a big wine delivery. we do not need it and we can save the money on other items. My husband and I are not going to do presents either. it is good to have the support of someone else in all of this.

  • Hello

I am happy at the moment, what with having to rush around because I had a phone call the tiler could come and level the floor today. I was pleased as it means we will have flooring in all our ground floor as of next week. The backsplash for the kitchen also arrived and will be fitted next week. its the 3rd one, 1 broke and 1 was lost in the post.

In other news my husband finally agreed to not go skiing this year. I am so pleased. we will be working hard together to shift this debt and made a plan for our holiday in 2021. We are starting to make strides in this journey together and it feels so supporting.
