Mumps advice please

Options
Hi,

I went to the walk in center on Saturday and was told 2 hour wait when i said i think it was Mumps they saw me right away, The confirmed it was and sent me home after 45 minutes.

I had Mumps when i was younger, This time its not that bad i am on the 3rd day and its not swollen much either but has done on both sides. I was very young when i had mumps.

I have slept, drunk loads of water. But my question is how long will it last now i have reached my 3rd day?

I am due to go away on the 10th Oct for 5 days :(

Thank you
Jan Wins: .

    Some useful information here:-

    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

It's unusual to get it a second time, but logically, if your immune system has some memory of it, it would probably deal with it a bit quicker? Also, from what you say, this time hasn't been too severe, so again, that bodes well.

The site I linked to says that 10 days to a couple of weeks is a usual time frame to be experiencing symptoms.

Everybody is different, so other peoples experiences of a second bout of mumps is likely to be as variable as any other disease - so you're likely to be reassured by those that say it's not very bad, and worried by the others who tell you it was terrible and went on for ages ;)

Just carry on doing what your doing - sensible measures to get rid of a viral illness as quickly as possible.

    Hope you're better soon
