We can't speak for ms Thunberg, but can for ourselves... At what point in history do you think we should halt progress and give up fossil fuels?

    In the UK, maybe 2050.

Now if you believe this then please explain your view below:

If you believe the first part of your statement about FF contributing to global warming then doesn't it answer your question on why young people want to move away from using fossil fuels? It's the same answer you just gave! You also want to move away from fossil fuel use!

Yes, you’ve answered that one for me, I do want to move away from FF use eventually but not by 2025 as XR are demanding.

    Why 2050, not 2060, 2090, or 2100?
    Why at all?

    I wasn't expressing a view. I was asking a question.

I’m not a scientist so I can’t calculate the tipping point but if the scientists say 2050 to be FF free I will have to go with that for now. It is though more than 30 years away and things may change for better or worse by then.

    What date do you suggest?

    I wasn't expressing a view. I was asking a question.

Actually it came across as a rhetorical one. I had already said no more new FF plants so if you were asking why not it suggested you felt that developing countries should still push ahead with FF.

Nothing at all. I just wonder why Ken is so against 2025 yet in favour of 'maybe 2050'. I'd be interested in how he arrived at 2050, whether it had a scientific basis, or just a date pulled from the air?
