So. . . what would YOU do?

A hypothetical situation, I know, but. . .

Let's assume you are the Chief Executive of a bank that because of the way it has been managed, has got into difficulties.

Let's assume the Bank of England has had to bail it out.

Let's assume you've made over £2million in the past 12 months from your salary and from selling shares in the bank when the price was high.

Let's also assume that you're departing from your job in a couple of months' time -- at which point, you will, under the terms of your contract, collect an "exit fee" of £400,000.

Or, then again, you won't: because you have the option to waive that exit fee.

Question:

In view of the everything that has happened, what would you do: accept the payment, or waive it?

What will you do with your £400,000 exit fee? 16 votes

  • I've voted to accept it ......if I had the nerve to stay in the job after making that sort of mess of it, then I would have no qualms about receiving £400K - you never know how long it would take me to get a new one!

I'd hold out and possibly waive half for Merv's job - why put up with these namby pambies, I've seen the miracle economy and it works..!!
  • I voted to accept; it's not actually that I feel I myself would do that (although you cannot be sure until it's for real) but we know that the people who hold these positions of great responsibility rarely do the honourable thing.
I would have liked to see Steve McClaren AND all the players admit their failure and walk away from those positions, but sadly when vast sums of money are involved this doesn't happen.

Me too, it's not fair just to sack the manager. If he picks the best players available and motivates them as best he can, then they go out onto the pitch and don't bother playing their best it's hardly his fault.

    O/T I know, but:

The best players in England today aren't, er, English. . .

Be interesting to know if somewhere there's a stats record of the number of English players in the 1st Division at the time of the 1966 World Cup and the number of English players in the Premier League now.
