Hello everyone
Does anyone have any good tips for cleaning white trainers.
This in both for the uppers and the rubber trim.
I have a pair of pure white ones which are now starting to look grubby.
Many thanks.

I put trainers in the washing machine on a gentle wash, I've washed several pairs and haven't had any disasters yet.0

Some people on another forum are recommending "Elbow Grease" (no I'm not being sarcastic, it's a house cleaning product). Particularly for trainers and canvas shoes. I suspect there may be some form of bleach in it, but I haven't checked.0

I've actually got some of the trainer whitener stuff which is just white paint. Not tried it yet. Not sure the long term effect of paint on top of paint etc.
This pair is just about 2 months old, is it still good idea to machine wash them while they are still fairly new?
I'm cautious because they were fairly pricey when I bought them.

Are they leather or fabric? if leather i would use Magic Eraser by Flash. You can buy it in major supermarkets.0

The product Elbow Grease doesn't contain any bleach - rather a very good and efficient detergent.
It is brilliant at breaking through grease, and breaks down dirt particles cleaning the filth off most things.0 -
I have a pair of Hotter trainers/shoe with suede and fabric that I clean with hot soapy water and a toothbrush and it brings them up nicely.
The company advises against putting them in the washing machine.0 -
do they still make the stuff my mum used to put on my school pumps. It had a little sponge applicator on the end??How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0

I used to use just a bit of face cream / body lotion to clean non-fabric trainers. Nowadays, I would probably use a face wipe out of pure laziness0

Cif cream is brilliant for white leather trainers. I usually buy the white version of Cif cream for trainers but found the lemon one just as good. I don't buy white canvas trainers - one reason being they are difficult to keep clean.0
