Car radio removal - it won't come out!

Here's a challenge!!
I need to remove a car radio. It seems that the previous owner took out the CD player and put a car radio in but it was never wired up.
It has the standard universal 4 'holes' on each side but using the removal metal rods doesn't work. It can be 'wiggled' around but it is completely jammed in somehow.
It seems to be jammed on the bottom corners but my OH has put his hand underneat and can't feel how/why it is jamming.

What type of car is it ? if its a vauxhall you need to undo the nut at the back this is done by basicaly lying in the passenger footwell and reaching around the back of the dash.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

It's a City Rover (so a re-badged Tata Indica) The factory spec says it came with a CD player so at some point it has been switched over.

If there isn't a security bolt at the back, the trick with those U-shaped radio removal handles is to move your ends outwards - this moves the other ends and the retaining clips inwards. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0

You may be pushing the tools in too far. This has the effect of jamming the unit in tighter. Pull them out and push just in then put your fingers in the cassette slot and gently pull the unit out. Or the previous owner may have bent the locking tags so that the tools are actually pushing them outwards and locking the unit in.0

Cheers, I'll try moving them outwards and also not putting them in very far.
