My husband started a pension off when he served as a cadet in the merchant navy in the UK in 1978, he paid into this until 1982. The company was called National Mutual Trust of Australasia. He can't trace this company and has tried to find his pension via a pension searching company they have not responded. Does anyone know how he can find his pension?
Many thanks.

Why would he have joined what would appear to be a private pension scheme instead of the Merchant Navy pension scheme?0

Is it possible that this was a former name of AMP? (The National Mutual Life Association of Australia).

May not have been eligible if he was employed by a private company.0 -
Thank you, I'll look into the AMP0

Thank you - unfortunately on the gov.uk site the pension company is not listed under the list for his employer.0

Might be worth checking with Phoenix Life. They bought the London Life book of business which was originally part of the UK arm of AMP.0
