Personal tradeable carbon credits?

A simpler and better idea in my opinion would be that advocated by James Hansen and others - tax carbon emissions and then divide up the funds raised and pay it back equally to everyone. Those who cause little GHG to be emitted would be rewarded and those who cause a lot would be punished. It would be inherently progressive as the lower paid would tend to be responsible for fewer emissions and therefore be better off net, but vice versa for the wealthy.Solar install June 2022, Bath

I like this, same concept, everyone gets a share and carbon is still priced. Only thing is carbonate n part of cost is not visible compared to spending carbon credits on each transaction..I think....0 -

Hi Ed. This is a great idea, and whilst I'm often bashing US Republicans, they did actually suggest this idea, with annual rebates to households, with benefits exactly as you suggest.
Sadly, they tied in lots of questionable additional conditions, and relaxing (I think) some other environmental constraints on the FF and energy industries.
But, it's certainly doable, and hard to argue against, I hope?Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 20kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.
