Shop & Scan - Panel Connect

Not sure where to post this, but as it's part of Shop & Scan I thought I'd try here, please move if not applicable here plse mods.

I've just received an invite from Shop & Scan for Panel Connect, where they track what you do on your mobile phone. I've been reading through the Privacy Policy etc and they have access to online accounts it seems, but it makes no mention of being able to access passwords.

My common sense tells me they shouldn't be able to, but I don't know of anyone else who's on this panel, so thought I'd ask on here what people think.

I do online banking so obviously don't want someone being able to see my user name and password!

Can anyone advise please? TIA

    This concerns me:

The PanelConnect app and our internal systems are outfitted with technical privacy rules designed to avoid the collection of certain types of personally identifiable or sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, email addresses and information from most web-based email accounts. These rules rely on known field types, values, and algorithms, but they are not foolproof, and sometimes the software may inadvertently collect unwanted information. However, be assured that we will not knowingly use any such inadvertently collected information in our services.

Despite our efforts, certain personally identifiable or sensitive information might get through the privacy rules and procedures, such as health and financial details. However, we do not knowingly use any inadvertently retained personally identifiable or sensitive information in our 'clickstream data' analysis services, and we make reasonable efforts to review and update our rules to keep up with any changes.

  • I got the invitation too. I doubt we can really tell what info they collect and be sure sensitive info are safe. I installed the app for 1 day only, it was draining my battery. I didn't think it was worth it.

Thank you for your reply. The bit in bold in the second post I made was a bit worrying so I've decided not to take part, it's a shame but definitely not worth taking a chance when it comes to security!

I too received an invitation - and was concerned about allowing access to my details and usage - it made my phone unusable, so quickly uninstalled it.
