Gifted deposit from overseas nightmare

A quick update on this, for anyone who might find this useful in the future. As it turns out, my solicitor was not receiving my emails (all were going to junk). I was stressing because I had no replies from the solicitor and I didn’t know what to prepare (statements translated, certified, in original by post, by email, etc) but once the solicitor started receiving and replying to my emails, everything went smooth.
I provided a copy from an ID (certified), a declaration from the person gifting the deposit (template from the internet), bank statements for the past 3 months from the person gifting the deposit, showing the money had been sitting in that account for a while. The statement was not translated, nor certified and the solicitor was happy with it as it was sent. All the documents were sent by email.
We were asked if we wanted to exchange yesterday!

You might want to change to 'Solicitor was the nightmare'"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
