Seller won't complete

None of this matters because you haven't exchange contracts yet. The whole purchase could fall through at this stage and you could be in the position of looking for another house to buy.
Nothing is set until you have exchanged contracts.
They haven't plucked any 18 enquiries out of the air on the seller's completion date simply because there isn't a completion date. You only get a completion date when you have exchanged contracts.
You keep mentioning an non existent completion date. There is no completion date. Any date mentioned before exchange of contracts is a only a possibility it is not a date that anyone should be relying on.
Sorry I should have been a bit clearer. The enquiries the sellers solicitors have "plucked out of thin air" (EAs terminology, not mine) are regarding the upward chain. And I was referring to the sellers potential completion date for her chain in the latter.
I understand that an agreed completion date is only a possibility, as it has only been a possibility on three occasions. What I'm more concerned about is my solicitors advice. I don't feel comfortable contacting the seller direct about this matter as friends have advised me not to. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to push matters back onto my solicitor. I have already informed her I am not comfortable dealing with the seller directly, so she instead sent me the seller's solicitor details instead. Is it now not my solicitors responsibility to agree another possible completion date?0 -

I can't understand why you keep mentioning a completion date at this stage? There is no completion date. Don't contact the sellers about a completion date because there isn't one.
You seem fixated on a completion date before all the searches have been completed. When you are about to exchange contracts you will agree a completion date then. Until then there is no point in keep trying make one.
Your searches may be complete on your purchase but it doesn't follow that your sellers searches are complete. You have to wait until all the legal work is done when that is done then you get asked about a completion date to go into the contract before exchange. Signing the contract is often done months and months before exchange happens.
You could have another 3 months to go before you are ready to exchange.0 -
OP, this may sound like an obvious question but it's not clear from your posts - you do understand the difference between exchange and completion?
What exchange date are you aiming for? Are you planning to exchange and. complete in the same day?All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Okay. So that's all my solicitor had to say. I was asked for a completion date by my solicitor as all searches were complete. She was told by the sellers solicitors that all searches were complete on their end so that's why my solicitor asked me for a completion date. All she then had to say was "Now that the seller's searches aren't complete we won't be able to look at a completion date until they are. I will contact you with further information." But instead I was told to contact the seller to arrange a completion date. This is why I'm confused.0 -
You do understand also that signing the contracts is nothing to do with exchanging contracts? Sometimes you get to sign the contract on a purchase that then falls through. Or you get to sign them 6 months before you exchange contracts. The time that a completion date is set is when you exchange contracts that could be 6 months or more after you sign them.0

No I don't plan on doing both on the same day. When my solicitor suggested Friday 13th as possible completion she told me exchange would take place on the Wednesday.0 -

This is very simple. You do not contact the seller directly over any of the legal work. You do not contact the seller's solicitor over any of the legal work. All legal work is done by your solicitor and your seller's solicitor. That is what both parties are paying for. Your solicitor and your seller's solicitor will sort out the completion date. What you have to do is wait and stop phoning your solicitor to ask about anything. The chain is not ready to exchange so you all you do is wait until it is.0 -

Yes I do. I feel the advice I was given was maybe misleading considering an exchange date hadn't been set, but I guess you're going to suggest I should have been more careful than to follow my solicitors advice at all.0 -

Thank you! Why would my solicitor even suggest that?? I am definitely not going to adhere to any of her advice moving forward.0
