Just though I would share my excitement at having ordered a new washing machine. However I am also quite nervous. I have been looking at the best price for a new Bosch washing machine, the best I could come up with was just under £300 at Tesco (not in stock though). I then found http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk/ which appears to be an auction site of goods either damaged/returned or reconditioned. They just happend to have the same washing machine which I bid on and won at just over £200 including delivery.
Here's there nervy bit, it has a dent on the left side, which I am hoping should be hidden anyway and it will have a 12 month warranty. Did I do a foolish thing?

Excellent price - no one ever gets to see the side of an appliance anyway - it is under warranty and will be just perfect. Happy washing.I used to have a life............................... before MSE!!

I managed to get my bosch washing machine for a lot less than it should have been because Comet had mispriced it in store. They noticed as I went to pay for it, along with a 5 year guarantee (the only appliance i insure is the washing machine!). Stood my ground and got it for the price displayed with a whooping great reduction in the price of the insurance.

Great price from Comet Clearance check it when delivered and the only damage should be that reported on the auction. If on inspection you find anything that is not 100% correct apart from the disclosed damage contact them by phone they will normally renegotiate the price or failing that just refuse to accept the machine.0

I've had a freezer and a fridge freezer from Comet clearance, good prices for both, unused ex-display. Unfortunately the fridge freezer never worked from when I plugged it in (4 hours after the delivery man left) but to be fair, when I rang them them they picked it up very quickly and refunded the same day.You can't go wrong with carpet bombing...0

thats a great price, well done and like other posters have said you never see the side anyway.0

Comet clearance is great - don't worry as it's got a 12 month guarantee anyway which you can extend normally like any new machiine you can buy in store.
I ordered an Indesit tumble drier with John lewis and then the same day I saw a Siemens (far superior make) dryer which is perfect in box (!?) on comet clearance for about £10 more than the Indesit - the Siemens was worth £300+ (checked on kelkoo) so got a bargain.
The only thing to warn people about is that Comet Clearance "NEW" prices are sometimes over-inflated - they sell LCD Tv's which are supposedly £1000 new but when you do search on kelkoo (etc) then you can easily get it for £700-800 elsewhere so it's not as much of a bargain as you think...in the heat of bidding you can get carried away and end up paying more for a dented one than you could have got elsewhere for a new one if you shopped around.
Saying that I've had a £1000 TV, Washing machine and Tumble Dryer from them and so far so good...Tesco is my second home:j0 -
I bought my washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge freezer, cooker & lcd tv all from scratch and dent commet which is similar to the auction site, all my appliances work and some only have the smallest scratch on them.Got Married 16/09/11 :j0

Anyone know of any other electrical clearance websites? On searching apparently Curry's have one but I'm not sure if they're genuine. Comet don't have any integrated washing machines on their site. Looking for a quality brand without dryer.0

Please note that their site says 6 months guarantee (at least it does on the items we were looking at).
Coupled with the £25 delivery charge we went elsewhere.0
