Am I supposed to get a receipt after paying NHS dentist?

Hi all. As the thread title states, am I supposed to get a receipt after paying to see an NHS dentist? Whether it's for a check-up, fillings, or anything else?
Last time I went, they didn't give me anything. I asked for something as proof that I'd paid, and they said it wasnt necessary. Is this going against NHS 'rules'?
Thanks.

I pay by card, so I get a receipt for that. They then ask whether I need a full receipt - sometimes I'll take one, as I have a cashplan I can claim on; other times I've maxed out for the year already so there's no point having the piece of paper.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Yes you should get a receipt.
Our daughter once got a 'fine' for not paying even though she did, as the receptionist had filled out the form wrong.
Luckily she had kept her receipt.0 -
I got one when I paid for my NHS checkup but that was just the card machine receipt.
Switched to private now but still always get a receipt.0
