I Wanna Terminate My Sky Contract

Hi
At the end of November 07 I will have had Sky HD with multi-room (ordinary Sky box) for 12 months. The HD is OK but far to few channels to make it worthwhile. This is costing £60 odd quid per month!
I want to write to Sky (recorded delivery) at the beginning of December to give the 30 days notice to terminate my contact.
1. Can I keep the Sky equipment?
2. Can I use the Sky HD & ordinary box to receive freeview channels?
3. Will I have to pay Sky any money to do this?
I don't expect to be able to use the recording facility on the HD box.
The TV aerial reception in my area is very poor so I don't want to have to try to get a new aerial installed to receive freeview.
Any advice welcomed
Thanks
Allan

Why not write to them now so the contract ends after the 12 months rather than 13 months? just a thought.
If you have a sky+ box anything that is stored on there on any channels you subscribe to will be lost when you no longer subscribe to those channels.
or do you want to keep it running over christmas to get all the christmas tat they put on?0 -
Hi Little John
Yes you guessed - the family will probably want to watch some of the 200 channels of shinola on Sky over Christmas.
Thanks for the advice on the Sky+ planner. I'll make sure it is emptied.
Can we be sure the Sky card will still work as a freeview consumermonkey? I won't be very popular if it doesn't LOL
Cheers

Hi,
I can confirm that the Sky card will work and allow you to access all free to air channels after you terminate your contract.
If you have a DVR you can download any programmes off the HDD before you terminate.
If you still have your Sky contract there is details of how to cancel on the last page. Be sure to write and keep a copy. I did it by phone and guess what, we have no record of that call Sir etc....."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Sorry to hijack the thread..
My girlfriend has recently moved in with me and we've cancelled her old Sky contract.
We now have a Sky+ box extra.. I was going to give this to my dad to use..
Would he be able to use the recording facility on the freeview channels?I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -
I too have come to the end of my contract and I just phoned sky to cancel my contact over the phone. It was easy and I have also received a letter from them confirming when I will lose all of my channels and when my contract will end.
