I'm about to start the scary task of getting my own house built. Does anyone have any personal recommendations - its such a big project I need someone I can trust I also need to get a few quotes first to make sure I'm getting the best deal. The house is going to be built in the country 10 miles from Armagh, Portadown and Dungannon - so I guess its close to a lot of places. Any names would be greatly appreciated.

We got M E Crowe to build our Sunroom based on a recommendation from a friend of a friend and they did a fantastic job from start to finish. I can't speak highly enough about them. They do take on bigger projects such as the new manse beside Lisburn PSNI station and a small estate of detached homes on the Belsize road in Lisburn.
We got several quotes when we started this project and M E Crowe were not the cheapest but neither were they the most expensive. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Glad to hear you had good service from them.Pam17 wrote:They do take on bigger projects such as the new manse beside Lisburn PSNI station and a small estate of detached homes on the Belsize road in Lisburn.
Is that going to be a big house, or apartments beside the Police station?
The houses on the Belsize rd, they have been half built for a few years now, I've always wondered why they paused. Any ideas?

Are you building your house off sewerage mains? If so, I can do you a good deal on a treatment plant/septic tank.0

DesG Sorry I didn't reply sooner I've been on holiday. The houses on the Belsize were started by another building company and then everything halted. M E Crowe seem to have taken over the site to finish it off.
You might be right about apartments beside the PSNI station. I had heard it was to be a new manse connected to the church nearby. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Do not trust ANY builder. Have a quantity surveyor do a bill of quantites for you and then get three or four quotes. Have an architect oversee the project. You really dont want the hassle of dealing with the builder direct. Let the architect do the arguing ! I speak from experience !:beer:0

unfortunately I cannot afford to pay an architect to oversee the project - we're actually looking for a contractor/ builder to take on the entire project - we have a couple of quotes but wanted a few more just to keep everyone honest!DON'T WORRY BE HAPPY
