Hi
My mother has been diagnosed with arthritis in her back and hips.
A friend suggested codliver oil capsules, and she got a little confused when buying and comparing ingredients of various makes... so she asked me,
Discrepancy in branded to own branded prices is huge, Guess you are paying a lot for the name compared to shops own brand, where the composition appears very similar with a bit of something else maybe added in. Although guessing the grade of the oil is higher, but not sure if at any higher benefit.
Anyone suggest a good buy... before i buy the cheap ones from Poundland?
Thanks

Also have read up on glucosamine sulphate......takes about 3 months to notice a difference but lots of people swear by it including me.

Please do not randomly take or give supplements without the advice of an appropriately qualified healthcare professional (eg. family doctor/ her own pharmacist/ registered dietician). And/ or read NHS web pages for general healthy eating and healthy living and/ or NHS web pages on specific medical conditions.
Cod liver oil is not a recommended treatment for osteoarthritis nor for rheumatoid arthritis. It is usually high in (added) vitamins A and D and is not safe for everyone.
Is your mother eating the recommended minimum/ maximum (for age group/ life stage) number of portions of oily fish each week? Oily fish include sardines, pilchards, mackerel, herring, salmon, trout. Canned, smoked, fresh or frozen of any of these (canned tuna does not count though).
I studied/ worked in lifestyle healthcare for many years, but am no longer practicing.
