Second Job, Employed or Self Employed?

Hi all,
I am looking for a bit of advise. My daughter left high school this year, meaning I no longer qualify for tax Credits, which has left me £3000 a year worse off.
I have a full time job as a Dental Nurse, which I love and dont want to leave. I have worked in pubs during the weekend for over 15 years, but the pub I currently work in does not have the hours I need to earn the extra income I require.
I am looking into creating a Facebook page, to offer my bar services to local landlords/landladies in my area, for if they are short staffed for any reason.
My query is with tax, Most pubs in my area pay cash in hand, but with advertising on FB, you would never get away with it. Would I be better off registering as being self employed and just adjusting my hourly rate to cover the 20% tax, or is there a better way around this?
I am very new to all this and really only weekend evening free to try and make the extra income.
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help
