O/S Daily Monday 9th September 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Now getting light, dry underfoot but air is chilly.

DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying a first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and ok.

Lunch yesterday was roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, HG green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy - some LO's - lovely it was too. Dinner tonight will be either fish or egg, bacon, sausage, beans and chips.

We went to my parents quickly Sunday morning as we had some sage to take to my bro and sil as they want to try to grow some in their garden. I also took them some of our HG chillies. Once we got home I prepped the veg etc for the lunch and DH and DS1 got out in the garden and did a bit of tidying up - they didn't have much to do but what they have done makes a difference. They're hoping to get the last bits done next weekend. I also got the pack ups organised so we both got to chill in afternoon.

Back to work this morning, we'll see what sort of day we have.

Keep safe and well x

    morning all

Very chilly here this morning and pouring with rain looks quite wintery out there its meant to be back to sunny ish tomorrow.

Yesterday OH and I cut the lawns (we also do the lady who lives at the back of us who is poorly) and gave the front hedge a severe haircut it looks so much better for it and should spring back in the spring, I also cut a few small branches off of an oak tree on the bit of land next to our house, they have been half hanging off for ages and the leaves were blocking the path so we cut them down and it looks so much better, I was hoping the council would do it but they seem to be ignoring it, we had so much garden waste that we borrowed a truck and ran it to the tip, so much better and tidier out there now, we still have the back hedge to do at some point but that can wait.

Off to work today and Ive just heard my work mate is poorly so I will get given someone else for the day, I hope its someone who knows what they are doing!

We have spag bol for dinner tonight but I have some corgetti to try rather than spaghetti so it will be interesting to see what its like and if it fills us up.

Tried to order my currency last night but for some reason it would not go through, will try again tonight, also need to get quad bike insurance on top of normal insurance.

Right better get on have good days all xx
  • Dank and dull but not raining yet, the washing is in the machine, will put it through the dryer, not up to running out and collected wet washing when it starts to rain.

Off to get our haircut shortly and OH is going to his evergeen meeting this afternoon, so I plan to plunder Morrison, need bread flour.

I see they are predicting another bad winter for us, I will have to check through the store cupboard and start building up a stock again. I will not drive in snow or frost after my twirl 2 winters ago.

I have relented and put the heating on low, its cold again this morning, if the sun breaks through I will put it off until this evening.

Egg chips and beans tonight, nursery food OH calls it. Remains of the blackberry and apple pie from last night for dessert.
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

It's chilly and overcast here, rain due later so there is porridge simmering on the job and I've made meatloaf for later.

We moved yesterday, Beano and I walked miles, opening locks and bridges and walking back to move the car, we will move again on Wednesday as we have out boat safety check on Thursday.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all

Chilly here also, started to put my heating back on over the last week. Just in the evenings.

We're moving house on Friday so packing up the rest of our things and clearing out/taking rubbish to the dump and charity. Busy, busy over the next few days.

Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good morning everyone.

It’s wet here too. Am preparing for the window cleaner this morning though he may not come because of the rain. He cleans the outside of the windows as well as the inside. All the ledges need cleared and curtains tied back.

No idea how my day will pan out. First I need to shower and dress.

    Happy Monday to all

    Good morning.

Camelot, I hope you got good news over the weekend.

We're in rainy Yorkshire to do some jobs around the house. The rain would be good except we have a new yard gate to fit!

Life is very quiet again at the moment, I have a bit of toothache, caused I think by teeth clenching in my sleep. I only do it when I'm stressed and the political situation has been causing me a lot of stress.

Laura is doing a short course on aural acupuncture and is planning to use me as a guinea pig I think. I don't mind and it could be quite interesting to see what happens.
  • Morning all. Wet here too and quite dark and dismal. We have just had a late breakfast of scrambled egg, toast and orange juice.

OH is bored. We have had a couple of busy days. We went to Minehead on Saturday and had a ride on the West Somerset Railway. Yesterday OH took DD and dgs shopping. She had to return some school trousers and do a shop. They came back later for a roast dinner. Dgs had a lovely bubbley bath before he went home.

Gers hope you and Mum have a good day. HH meatloaf sounds yummy. I might try one out on DS this week.

Well have a good day all Hugs and spoons all round.

    Morning all,
I feel shattered this morning, first the dog woke me at 1,30.I let her out for a wee and could hear voices outside further down so whether that disturbed her I dont know. She was also shaking her head so I put some eardrops in and decided to sleep on the sofa in the kitchen.Next DS2 came up from his basement and used the loo ( he didnt see me :D)at 3.30,and finally DS1was moving about upstairs as he had an early start at 6.DH said to go back to bed but once I'm awake thats it. I'll end up nodding off in front of the telly tonight.
My plan today was to do a load of washing & ironing ( tumble cos its wet) I've got the washing done and I'll see how I feel about ironing later :D

Not sure what to do for tea.Last night we didnt have our usual roast or steak as DSons had pizza l.o. from Saturday. They buy big ones and leave half in the fridge,so DH and I raided the freezer for various picky bits, followed by sticky ginger pud I bought from the Food festival the other week. BM to go on later too.
Hope all is well for the missing posters xx

Afternoon everyone! In my continuing endeavours to not spend too much money whilst on sick leave today I'm planning on a no spend day, helped by the rubbish weather. So it's roast lamb for dinner today (don't often do a roast on a Sunday) and then leftovers will be made into pasties for later in the week or frozen.

Otherwise I've been drinking tea and reading cookbooks.

Sending hugs to anyone who needs them xx
