Never started an office diary on here before but have always wanted to be mortgage free. Every house I've owned I've overpaid with that dream. But life tends to get in the way, as just as am about set a firm plan its time to move up the ladder.
Thankfully we are now in our 'final' family home, move in 2.5 years ago, and currently on track to reduce the mortgage debt from 70% LTV to 55% LTV by end of year 3, with a plan to clear the whole thing by 2025.
HOWEVER the lazy hung over Sundays of watching what ever was on TV when we were students have come back to haunt us......
The thought of been able to turn our 1950s bungalow from OK to a crazy wall to celling glass clad art work is just too tempting. Add in 5% fixed interest rates of sub 2% and our ability to really borrow crazy amount thanks to our low LTV the temptation is just too much.....
Our house is by no means modest already, and we don't need more space but its just human nature to want more?? So the architect has already been and surveyors about to be booked. The thought of increasing our LTV goes against everything I've learnt on this forum, but you only live once, and sometimes been financially irresponsible is OK?
So Kevin, I hope your proud, standing there looking all clam, trusting, civilised, whilst secretly enticing the nation with glass, LED lights, sand blasted walls, and under floor heating for the last two decades. Kevin I hope your proud of your role in killing our mortgage free dream :rotfl:
