O/S Daily Sunday 8th September 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH now in the bath, I'm going for a shower in a mo, and DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.
Bright sunshine and blue sky to start the day although air is chilly.
Dinner last night was chicken en croute, buttered new potatoes, broc, peas and gravy. Lunch today will be roast lamb, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, swede, HG green beans, peas, yorkshires and gravy. Hope the lamb is nice as we don't have it often as it's so expensive. Any LO's will make another meal.
Yesterday was a chill day after I'd finished work, we visited both sets of parents, my bro and sil were visiting my parents so nice to see them for a bit and they would like some cuttings of some herbs in my garden so we'll do that and take them this morning for them to take back home. Once lunch cooked and eaten, I'll be chilling for the rest of the day.
Keep safe and well x

Morning
Its quiet on here today ! Its a lovely day here nice and bright with a good breeze blowing, I have stripped the beds and got the bedding on a hot wash will hang them out to dry.
OH is at the boot sale and pup is sat here with me under a blanket so all peaceful just having a cuppa and will then have marmite on toast.
Had the dreaded haircut yesterday and actually it was ok, although very comedic, the hairdresser(who was very camp) was running very late cos he talks too much, so eventually got a friend of his who was waiting for her friend to have her haircut to wash my hair (she diddnt work there !!) anyway she ran the water for ages only to discover there was no hot water at all, he flounced through the back and I could hear banging and swearing and he announced that he had put the emersion on and that it would be warm in a few minutes, we sat and waited and waited for about 1/2 hr and still nothing, in the end I said to the woman just do it as I was fed up with waiting !!
It was blooming freezing !! but he cut my hair very well probably the best cut I have ever had and would only take £20 as he was so embarrassed about the water, I will defo go back, I have not laughed so much for ages.
Onto today I need to have a quick tidy through then we will get out for a long walk with the pup, back home to make the beds, bbq glass of wine and then a bit of tv before bed, is anyone watching Peaky Blinders ? Ive watched all of the series and I think they are just getting better and better.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,its a lovely day here. We've done the dogwalking and I think we're going to buy the new flooring for the kitchen & dining room once DH has made a bit of space in the van!
We had a lovely meal out last night with our friends,a tiny restaurant in a village on the outskirts of town, went back to theirs after and DS1 picked us up after he'd also got DS2.
Nmlc I noticed the pressure king pro reduced in our Sainsbos on Friday to £55 if thats any help. I have an IPot and love it but all the electric pressure cookers are big things and it does live on the worktop.
DP1 good to hear DGD is putting weight on
Right better go,DH waitingHave good days all x

Morning everyone.
An early though lazy start for me today- been awake and browsing since before 7a.m and now still in my pjs.
I'm watching the Great North Run on TV and just seen my old house! It's within the first mile and overlooks the Central Motorway, an old Georgian part of the town centre. Though I miss it I'm happy to be back in Scotland. Watching the race brings back nice memories - not that I ever did the race!
DM managed to do some things in the kitchen yesterday and then sat with her crossword buddy. I was taking painkillers for the rubbish ankle so stayed in my chair doing some reading and browsing. The crossword friend brought cake and the papers as I couldn't go out.
I've decided to not go out today - there's enough in the fridge. My task this week is to clear out the freezer here so that it can be re-stocked with easy to prep food. Will probably look at Wiltshire Foods for a short term solution.
My thoughts are with all those struggling. Happy Sunday to all.0 -
Good morning and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
It is beautiful here though quite nippy when I got up at 4.
So far I have 2 wash loads out to dry, have mopped the kitchen and dining room floors as son made a cake last night, washed up, put fruit to soak in brandy for a Christmas cake, watched a film and knitted a tiny jumper for a doll, had 4 cups of tea and some toast.
Now I'm going to read tge Sunday Times and then I have a few small jobs and a Sunday dinner to cook this evening. Roast chicken with the usual suspects. nmlc, like you, we don't have lamb very often because it has got so expensive.
I did virtually nothing yesterday, just needed a lazy day. OH cooked and they had vast amounts of meat, with small salad and chips, he made me a salmon parcel and I had big salad and a few chips, delish.
In the garden yesterday we saw a green woodpecker, a female, and I'm hoping she will come back. So far today, a Robin, some sparrows, a thrush, a fat pigeon and a squirrel plus mummy and baby rat.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
A bright sunny morning but a bit brrrrr, it was so cold yesterday I broke out the thermal socks and put the leccy blanket on before we went to bed.
I feel Jimjam time coming, my arms get cold in my nightdress, cannot be doing with that, mind you I was so tired last night, I read a couple of pages of my book and fell asleep.
Finished OH's gardening apron, he has it on this morning, mind you will be calling him in soon, he is over his half hour.
My back was so sore when I woke up this morning, we need to do something with the bed, it is just not giving me the support I need. So painkillers and a hotish shower, its a bit easier now.
I have one packet of cooked pork in the freezer enough for supper tonight with roast spuds and veggies from the garden. Need to make a crumble, apple and blackberry with cream......yum yum.0 -
Good morning everyone :hello:
It's dry and overcast here today but I am happy as I got a lie in till nearly 9am. I got up with Phoebe around 5am for an hour until she went to work and then I went back to bed and slept really well.
We have just had dippy eggs and soldiers and I also had a glass of strawberry milk with mine. I feel like I am 5 years old :rotfl:. It was delicious though.
Steve has put a joint of beef in the slow cooker so that will be ready this evening for dinner. We are having the usual veg and roasties with it and it should be really nice.
My tax credit muddle has been sorted out and I will get a payment tomorrow so I can stop panicking now. I want to put some money away for Christmas so have sorted out a spare account to stash it away in. I normally go completely overboard and spend an absolute fortune on everyone but this year I have decided to limit it to something to eat/drink, something to wear, something to read and something to do for each person. This will hopefully stop me going into a load of debt that takes a whole year to pay off ready for the next Christmas :eek:
Anyway, sorry for mentioning Christmas already. In other holiday news, I have finished knitting one of the Halloween Hamsters, he is a ghost and is very cute. Today I will make the witch one and if I have enough time I will start the pumpkin one. I rarely use the Alan Dart patterns as I usually knit designs from Jean Greenhowe. I am enjoying making them though and have a couple of his bigger designs to make if I so feel inclined.
Well, I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Dumpling...I complained to DD that Home Bargains had Christmas things in yesterday....then bought little grand daughter a Christmas book to put away till December!
Been down to mam and dads this morning, just having a quiet afternoon and then DD is coming up for her tea. She'll leave little grand daughter to stay the night with me.
Really looking forward to the new Margaret Atwood book arriving on Tuesday - I have it pre-ordered from Amazon0
