O/S Daily Saturday 7th September 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Grey cloud and now raining.

DH watching catchup tv whilst enjoying first cuppa, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here as I'm working this morning. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was chicken, ham and leek pie, chips, peas and gravy for the menfolk. I had mushroom omelette and salad. DS1 is eating out tonight and DH and I will be having chicken en croute, new potatoes, broc, other veg and gravy.

Yesterday I was reasonably productive, I did the ironing, got the cupboard emptied, cleaned out and items put back in - I did dig out my old slow cooker as it's getting colder it's handy for putting a meal in before I leave for work but it had become unreliable and just switching itself on and off - and it wouldn't even switch on yesterday so that's gone in the bin - it was a wedding present - so it's 27 years old - so it doesn't owe me a penny! They had new one's in A**i for £12 - I wasn't going to bother as I'm going to have an electric multi cooker/pressure cooker but slow cooker for £12 - I'll see how it goes. I've not decided definitely whether to get an electric one, there's such varying reports on how good they are - and it's quite a big expensive piece of kit that's going to need to stand on the worktop - my kitchen is not that big - so not sure. The slow cooker fits in a cupboard - if the electric pressure cooker did it would be great - will have to see.

This afternoon we'll likely visit the parents then home for dinner and chill time. The food shopping was really expensive this week - although I had run out of several things and did buy a huge 24 pack of toilet rolls. Hope to be able to cut the cost a bit next week. I also bought a half shoulder of lamb for roast tomorrow, that was more than I like to spend on a joint but we've been having pork as it's cheap and already eat alot of chicken during the week so try not to buy a whole chicken for a roast on a Sunday.

Keep safe and well x

    Good morning all.

    Thanks for the thread nmlc.

Today is for shopping, tip and visitor though my ankle has flared up again so I'm a bit hampered. I've eaten a banana and taken mega painkillers so it should calm down soon.

I hope all is well with MSE'rs and wish you a happy Saturday. SCD starts too.

    Morning All

A lovely bright sunny morning, not a cloud in the sky. The bath mats are on the line, shouldn't take long for them to dry. I put washing out when I got home from work, it was sunny and windy so it almost dried in a couple of hours.

Ironing done and I've made hummus for tomorrow, I'm not a fan so not sure if it's OK, I'm sure I will be told!

I'm going to meet DS1 and the DGC later to go on the ship DS1 works on, it's a families day. Boats don't like me so I hope it doesn't move! DS1 and the DGC coming back here to stay the night. DS2 coming over tomorrow and who knows what DD will be doing!

Enjoy your Saturday, take care. XX

    Good morning everyone :hello:

It's a sunny morning here and Steve is cooking us a full English breakfast so I am in a great mood :D:D.

I have sorted out some wool to knit some Halloween hamsters for the kids so that is my day taken care of. I'll pop a film on and knit away as that helps the time to pass. I also have to sort out some more patterns as I am bored of making scarves again.

The kids are all still asleep although the smell of sausages wafting upstairs might rouse them. It is going to be a quiet day as we have no visitors planned although Lilly might want to go shopping if she has been paid.

Fish, chips and mushy peas for dinner tonight and Steve is cooking that meal too.

We had a chat last night and have decided not to get a car with the money from Steve's PPI claim but instead we are going to get new carpets, blinds and generally spruce up our house as it is looking a bit tired now. I am equally excited and dreading it at the same time.

Hope you all have a nice weekend whatever you are up to, take care xx

Hi everyone - just been having a catch-up though everyone must be busy today. I went back to work on Wednesday, so back to normal now - I've really enjoyed spending lots of time with baby grand daughter while I've been off. She got weighed on Wednesday and is now 13lb 11oz!
Its been a lovely day here today, chilly this morning then sunny and warm this afternoon - I sat outside and read and then cut the grass both front and back. Didn't expect it as it's been quite cool all week.
Well I'm going to make a cuppa and see what I've recorded to watch. Did anyone watch The Hospital Experiment ? I thought it was really interesting.
