After reading the BBC website on 'Inappropriate Private Loans For Students' promoted by UCAS. I thought it might be worth pointing out that many other companies pay unions for promotion without checking. In insurance, Endsleigh Insurance have a deal with the NUS to promote their services. These are not the cheapest company for insurance products for students. Always shop around or use this site for guidance, don't just buy what's in front of you in halls or on notice boards at Uni. I have found much cheeper and better products by buying this way.
