refer to your initial disclosure document that you should have been given before engaging with services. It will clarify the fee structure. Would be great to see what wording has been used by the brokerage for explaining this

Lenders don’t charge fees to brokers. We receive commission from the lender.

We also charge fees to our clients that should be clear from the outset.

There are of course sometimes product fees that are charged by the lender, but this money should be paid directly to the lender not to the broker.

Halifax are a high street lender, did the broker actually do two applications at the same time or two DIPS?
