Need Advice

Hi All

Need some advice I have been off work since 20 August I was signed off with Musculoskeletal Pain under investigation , I am exhausted, having chest pains, very light headed and lost weight in a short amount of time. The doctor is referring me to a cardiologist and weight loss clinic.
I am a mum of two very active children and only work 3 days a week.
Today I received an email from my line manager who is also HR wanting to know what tests the doctor is doing? And what he is looking for.

If I was up to going into work believe me I would as I am going state crazy at home.

I expect they are looking for any information that will guide them as to how long you will be off work for.

I would suggest you reply back to say that you don't want to share details of the test you are undergoing, but will share the results of any tests that indicate a problem when the results are available. In my view, it would be unreasonable for them to expect you to share details of tests that might be quite wide-ranging, and which may come back negative.

You should make it clear that if you share your test results, you regard the information as sensitive personal data and only authorise it to be shared with a member of the GMC engaged by your employer to provide occupational health services. This will prevent the company from having non-doctors interpreting the results and trying to suggest a prognosis that is different to what your own doctors believe.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
