People seem outraged at him keeping £10/week... but most employers keep a whole month's wages simply by paying you monthly!0

The hours are 4pm-2.30am, wages are 60 quid but he keeps 10 of it every week incase you leave without notice.
Stay well clear as such a deduction would be illegal. I'd even consider reporting them to the authorities because this type of company is unfit to be an employer.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0 -
Have I got my maths right? 10 and one-half hours for £60. NMW would be £53.28 for that (at £5.52 per hour). £60 minus £10 deduction would be £50 (ie £3.28 short of NMW for the night).
Glad you are not planning on taking this apology for a job - but please do everyone else a favour and report him to the Minimum Wage enforcers at HM Revenue and Customs.0 -
Witholding pay is unlawful. Certain deductions are allowed, but only if you agree (doesn't apply to tax & NIC which, if due, must be deducted if you're paid via PAYE).
A 10.5 hour shift   :eek:Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac

But you get the money each month, just in arrears hardly the same is it.PasturesNew wrote: »People seem outraged at him keeping £10/week... but most employers keep a whole month's wages simply by paying you monthly!:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0 -
Avoid, holding back £10 a week just seems way out of order (do you get it back if you don't walk?, if you do is this gaurenteed? As this is YOUR money, not his, is it held in a seperate trust a/c, and do you get the interest?)
Also, is less than min wage (as ceridwen points out) enough to compensate you for working till 2:30 am? Depending on where it is, it sounds ideal for drunks on the way back from pub/club to get food at!0 -
Glad your'e avoiding this job, and hope that you find something more suitable.
Despite being tempted of earning extra cash. I would'nt touch this job either!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
I agree with a lot of the other posters. I am so glad you are not going to take that job. It all sounds fishy to me. I think he is a chancer and i would steer well clear of his type. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. Home care would be good as you drive. I used to do home care work as well.Do a little kindness every day.;)0
