O/S Daily Saturday 31 August 2019

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x

Happy birthday to those with a birthday x

Sun shining, dry bright start but a bit of a chill in the air, hope it'll warm up in a bit.

DH and myself are enjoying first cuppas, he's watching catchup tv and I'm on here. DS1 still in his pit. DS2 settled and ok.

Dinner last night was breaded chicken portions, chips/jacket potato, cheese and beans for the menfolk. I had fishcakes and caponata. Tonight we'll be having chicken fajitas with onion rings, skinny chips, side salad and coleslaw.

Yesterday I did get the ironing done, so spent some time researching recipes etc.

Keep safe and well x

  • Good morning, and thanks NMLC for starting.

It's fine here at the moment, but the forecast is not wonderful. It was very windy yesterday.

I wasn't out yesterday, well I went to a friends' last night, but got jobs done round the house.

I've got a gastroscopy appointment this morning, I have one every 3 years to check on a condition of my oesophagus, so will be glad to get that over. I hope they're not running late, sometimes they are. Though my appt is for 10.15 - I always think that the earlier the appointment, the less potential y there is to be running late.

Might do some shopping, though I don't need much.

Hope everyone has as good a day as they can. Thinking of Taff and her Dad, Gers and her Mum, and anyone else struggling with life or health problems

    Take care folks xx
  • Morning all

Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.

Fingers crossed Scarlett. I hate waiting for something like that.

I'm off out with DD1 and two of the dgd's today, the weather doesn't look good but we are under cover.

    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning.

The threatened torrential rain hasn't happened yet although it is raining and dark. Perhaps the weather front skipped Glasgow.

I had a fitful sleep, kept waking for a few minutes, nothing too bad. This morning it's the usual shopping trip and preparing for DM's crossword buddy. That means cake, pastries, scones and cream.

If the really bad weather holds off I'll aim for a walk. I'd like to go into town but the thought of the pay-day shopping crowds puts me off. It'll wait until Monday.

Hope all goes well this morning Scarlett.

    Happy Saturday to all.

    Morning All

Wet, dark and miserable this morning, it's rained steadily since about 1pm yesterday, can't see any work being done on the deck again.

WM just finished, yesterday's load is finishing off in the TD, can't do with too much washing hanging about.

I've been out to the parcel office and need to go out again later to the library and the allotment - I'm going to dig some potatoes and lift some onions even if I get soaked!

Hope you all have a happy Saturday, take care. XX

    Morning all

Nice bright sunny day here and meant to be nice all weekend I think Just right for our bbq tonight, I love sitting outside and eating and sharing a glass of wine and we wont be able to do it when the weather turns so need to make the most of it for now.

Need to go shopping today so I still need to write a meal plan for next week and write a list will do that after this, also I need to clean and tidy through downstairs, I have a wash on the go and another to go in after and I will wash the dogs bedding later as well.

Im going to try and book with the sports massage lady again before holiday it has helped so much, the pain is still there and sometimes still as bad but a few times I have been pain free for a while, which has not happened for months and months, so will try another session, im sure it will help.

Taff I am thinking of you all xx

    Have good days all xx

Hope the torrential rain holds off Gers
    Enjoy your day HH
    Cuddles sound lovely dp1
Enjoy your bbq RR. I cleaned ours yesterday, can't see us having another but we live in hope.
It's looking a bit grey here,we were hoping for a good day as we are off to an outdoor music festival later.OOh the first drops are falling on the glass roof as I type:eek: Looks like its wellies and waterproofs then :D Our godson is playing & we always try and support him, whether its with or without the band he's in, but he's on his own today.I dont think his mum & dad are coming, ( our BFs)its being held at Rivington Terraced ( high up ) gardens, quite a trek and they might struggle to get up there on foot. DS will drop us off as near as possible then we'll hike up the rest of the way.
DH brought a load of apples home from the job he's on,his clients just leave them,so they'll need 'processing' soon. There are some more blackberries ready across the road but I'm not picking them in the rain!
    Have a good day x

I had a really good day cleaning and decluttering yesterday when I tackled the upstairs, even wiped down the skirting and moved the furniture out to clean behind. Today my focus will be on the downstairs and if I feel as energetic, I will make a start on the ironing too. Gosh I may be sickening for something with this flurry of activity :rotfl:.
The weather is bleak but no rain yet, but it doesn't matter as I did all the washing yesterday and dried it on the line :j Sorry apparently it is raining..... I've just been informed :(.
I rang Dad last night and he's under the weather again ( he was in fine spirits on Tues when we went shopping but seems to have gone down hill since ) and " I can't do anything for him". Hey ho I did try :(. I don't know if he's coming over for lunch tomorrow, we'll have to wait and see. I may suggest taking a dinner up to him instead.
Oooooh ! just remembered I must take some meat out to defrost. I shall get all my veg ready for tomorrow before I go to bed too, as we are going to DD's in the morning to see the DGS. He's 10 tomorrow. Wow double digits! Where did that time go ?
Tea tonight will be HM corned beef pie and I think I'll do wedgie pots with it. There are some strawberries left so they will eaten with ice cream, because I finished the cream yesterday :p.
Right time for another coffee before I start again :).
TA are you ok ? or have I just missed your posts ?
Love to all the MIA's too. You're all still in my thoughts :lovethougWould love to hear that you're all ok.

    Scarlett good luck for today.
Hugs for the poorly ones and their carers or anyone struggling today.
    Take care all

Afternoon all...between visiting times at the moment, have asked nurse if it's ok to visit anytime, no problem she said. Will probably not be posting for a few days because I expect we'll be going earlier from tomorrow as he's going downhill fast.
Drive here was very easy today, no significant traffic slow down anywhere, must be school starting again next week. I picked beans, cucumber and tomatoes to bring back with me but bloody forgot them! No salad tonight then, sister is miffed at me...so am I though, head like a sieve!
Weather is sunny today here though, it was raining when I left, but I also bumped into an old work colleague when I was buying a sandwich for the way and we have made tentative plans to meet up in a few weeks time ....
Hope the appt went well Scarlet. Gers, hope your ankle is doing ok..Hope everyone is is having a good day or not a worst day ever if not....

So sad to read this taff - you and your Dad are in my thoughts. Keep your strength up and hold onto him as long as he wants. Big hugs.

The torrential rain eventually appeared this morning although it only lasted for about half an hour, most of which was when I was in a supermarket. Then the sun blazed through.

I'm sitting quietly reading and watch TV - mostly 'the man who never was' which was a lovely film and a true story.

Hope everyone has a good evening which is restful and restorative.
