Thanks for this. When the FOS sent me their response it did mention about the lender having to make me aware I had 6 months. I thought "Bingo I've got them" but reading the reply from QQ they have put that at the bottom of their response, I just didn't read it.

    Thanks for your help.

Another new-ish poster angling for a certain decision and accepting what they're told when it aligns with what they want.

I genuinely feel that MSE should be more about helping people learn to take financial responsibility when they screw up and it doesn't do that in any way by helping them avoid it.

Sadly that isn't how it ends up working.

People come here and ask for "advice" and are told correctly that they're stuffed and some random (usually new) poster tells them what they want to hear and that seals the deal.

    And we're all wrong.

    Because of course we are

I can’t see the poster has done anything remotely like this.

They seem to have accepted in good grace that there is nothing they can do.

So I doubt she's at school....
  • Repaid them all.

Then you have no claim IMO whether in or out of time.

PPI on loans taken out many moons ago, often fully repaid prior to the PPI reclaiming madness begun.

OP had the right to refer their complaint to the FOS and there was a fair chance that it would have been upheld with the FOS, depending on the specifics of course!
Their argument would be that their checks ensured funds went to someone they believe would pay it back - and she did.
Where is the irresponsible lending here?
I know we do not have the full story but...?

I think I posted in the wrong thread. Apologies.

Loan could have been repaid whilst in default (a debt management plan, for example) or by borrowing more money to pay off existing loans.

I asked the question whether she repaid or defaulted - she replied they were repaid. I took that at face value.
