Royal Mail 'opt out' letterbox sticker?

I had a search where on the message board this topic may have been discussed or could go and couldn't find anything

So since there's plenty of posting going on with eBay & online auctions, i thought here would be the most likely spot.
I was wondering if anyone had come up with a solution to the letterbox sticker problem other than sending off for a new sticker once per month?
I'm talking about the opting out where the postie doesn't leave your post with your neighbours & instead takes it back to the delivery office.
We've just ordered our 3rd of the year. The first one smudged with the first dribble of rain.
With the second one i put clear tape over it. This meant it lasted longer than the first time round ... it probably started to run on the second dribble of rain ... and is now just a complete white sticker (red isn't the best colour to leave in the sun).
And so on to our third...

Could you not laminate the sticker first and then attach this so that it cant get smudged if it rains?0

Aside from going out & buying a laminating machine just for this one job which isn't very MSE and not knowing anyone with a machine, any idea how i'd get it done? Are there certain types of stores that do this for example?
Thinking about it, wouldn't it need to be laminated front & rear which would then do away with the self adhesiveness of it all (suppose i could just buy some double sided 3M tape)?0 -

Ask around friends. I have access to at least 3 laminating machines from mates.
Laminating seals the item front & rear.
If you have a scanner. Why not scan your sticker and print off another if you need it?
Edit: What about a name badge/document holder or the like?
Eg

Sticker inside, seal and mount upside down Eg sealed bottom on top0 -
Sometimes business centres, community centres and libraries offer laminating services.0

I've found covering the sticker with clear tape, and then another section of tape above and below makes it last the longest. Been fine for months and months now, we have had a lot of rain too!0

You can seal most laminating pouches with a coolish iron (put a sheet of brown paper between the iron and the pouch)A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
