Final mortgage fee

My mortgage is coming to an end. I've heard rumours that once the mortgage is completed your lender will charge thousands of pounds to hand you the deeds. Is this correct and is there a cheaper method out there. Thanks Jeff

    Is this correct

    No.

Only if you are in a tie-in period for a deal and you are repaying early would you suffer an early repayment charge.

All you will have is a mortgage redemption fee potentially. This figure is fixed at the amount set on the last offer letter you signed (if you have never bought new deals, then it will be the original offer letter. If you bought new deals as each one ended then it will be the last offer letter you signed).
