Mortgage Offered

Hi,

I have a mortgage offered and have jumped through the necessary hoops, I am about to exchange and complete in a few weeks time.

However i have recently done some online gambling for a considerable amount of money (just over £1000) This was done with money i had in my debit account, i have transferred money from savings to cover this outgoing.

My question is would the mortgage lender know about this (i know they frown on gambling) and withdraw their offer to me?

They would only know about this if they had reason to check your bank statements again. As you are at offer stage its very unlikely (unless you need to change the terms of the offer) and if there isn't a history of this sort of level of gambling on your bank statements it shouldn't be a problem.

As a side note though, be careful, my late mother had an addiction to online gambling and it caused a lot of problems! Better doing it in cash at a casino, as you feel the pain more when you see the cash exchange hands!
