cheap ways to clean a whiteboard?

My OH has donated me a large whiteboard that he no longer needs but it's a bit stained and in need of a good clean. I don't want to splash out on a proper cleaner for it and wondered if there was anything I've already got in that would do the job? Anyone know?

Thanks.

I used WD40 years ago - I think I have used nail varnish remover too - I eventually bought some specific cleaner when I saw it cheap!!

Do not use anything abrasive at all - even toothpaste as they scratch!

Start with hot water and a wipe with a soft cloth. (We often just do that at work.) If that doesn't work then I'd second trying WD40 if you have some (particularly if someone's written on it with permanent pen - WD40 usually works for that). Otherwise, it's worth splashing out on whiteboard cleaner.

  • If it's been written on with permanent marker, the quickest and easiest way to remove it is to go over the top of the marks with a non-permanent marker, and wipe off immediately.
