O/S Daily Wednesday 28 August 2019
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need one, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Cloudy but still warm this morning, we had several rolls of thunder last night before some rain which didn't last many moments. Hoping it's freshened the air a bit. Rain is forecast again for today - which is wasn't yesterday afternoon! I have a wash load to peg out - I'm going to peg it out and hope for the best.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here.
Dinner last night was burger stacks, burger in a bun with salad, cheese, bacon and mushrooms, served with chips, onion rings and coleslaw. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost - so tonight we'll be having Hunters chicken, with mash and veg.
I have the day off today, so will be heading into town then back home to get some jobs done at home. I'd like to get the housework done, so I don't need to do it tomorrow - we'll see. Work yesterday wasn't too bad, I'm not back until Monday.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thank you for starting us off nmlc.
Happy birthday for yesterday Rosy Red.
I've had a few decent nights of sleep but last night was awful so I gave in and got up. I may go back to bed later.
Carried on with sorting out the garden yesterday, each session makes a difference. Not sure if I'll have the energy today and also the forecast is not great. I might have to do some housework instead, oh my life is so full of excitement.
I've no paid work on at present, I do have a job to do but it can't be started yet. Traditionally, July and August are quite dead months for the work I do. Nice in many ways, less great for the finances.
I hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Summer has left again, it's raining today. The deck is still being built, not sure the guys doing it are working that hard, no doubt the rain will put them off today!
I got away from work early yesterday to collect something from HQ and nipped along to the allotment to pull some more onions but they were closed, must have a word with them about that, they should stay open until 5.
Have a good day, take care. XX0 -
Good morning everyone.
Just a quick visit to wish all well today.
Happy Wednesday.0 -
Morning all
Raining here but meant to stop at 9 and then be nice for the rest of the day again, it was so hot yesterday in the kitchen it was unbearable!
Off to work today but I am leaving early to see the sports therapy massage woman I just hope she can help me, she seems quite certain that she can so fingers crossed.
Creamy garlic chicken for dinner tonight OH will have rice with his and I will have a load of veg, three weeks today till our holiday !!!
Will do a wash tonight and I have to put some washing away. I need to stop at the shop and send a parcel back too.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We never got the semi promised thunderstorms after all last night but light rain is forecast for today and the sky confirms this. It's looking a bit gloomy out there!
It's our fortnightly bus trip day today. Just two of us as our other friend is gadding off on holiday early tomorrow. Perhaps Skipton might be best in view of the forecast as there are more shops to dodge in and out of if we do get a shower. Lunch will be involved too but sadly no wine for me as I am still taking the useless painkillers. I tried to get a telephone appointment with the doctor to request stronger ones but the line yesterday was either engaged or just rang and rang! No wonder A & E departments are so busy.
Well there's a row of birdies lining up on the fence looking sadly at the bird table so I had better go out and top supplies up. I must remember to buy some fat balls too whilst I am out.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for all who need them. A wave to absent friends who may be reading along. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning Everyone,
Pottered around in the garden yesterday. The thunderstorm never came yesterday, but rained during the night and is forecast for today.
Plans today I must write a letter to my penfriend and then this afternoon I will visit my mom. I have re joined the pen pal magazine that I used to be in before mom was taken ill. I really enjoy getting these kind of letters through the post, instead of bills or junk.
Dinner tonight Chicken Casserole cooked in the SW.

Good morning,it's fine here for now, but wouldn't be surprised if it rained later.
Happy birthday for yesterday Rosy Red, hope you had a nice day.
Yesterday was ok, hot, as it was for everyone, then a bit of a thunderstorm about 6 o' clock, which came to nothing.
I'm meeting a friend at D*bbies this morning, and that's my day. There are the usual jobs at home of course, there are always those!!
Hope everyone has a good day anyway
Take care folks xx0 -
Morning everyone.....just been having a read back. I wasn't on my laptop all weekend as the weather was so lovely that I spent all my spare time outdoors. It was really hot and for once not windy on top of my hill. I got some garden tidying -up done and also spent lots of time sitting reading and relaxing. Little grand daughter stayed with me on Sunday night then we went for lunch with her mummy on Monday and had a really long walk. Little one had her first turn on a swing...she was very smiley!
Hope everyone has a good day today0 -
Morning all! Up early to await the electricians. Yesterday was productive, next door had someone in to do some work for them so I asked him about the wall and he said he could effect repairs in a few weeks time so another niggling thing put to bed. Grass was collected and so were the clippings from the fir tree things my neighbours have as bushes at the top of the garden. The garden boundary is all sorts. The wall is there at the start, followed by fence panels, followed by the original iron railings with the for things growing alongside them. They need a bit more cutting back at the top but my arms and the rest of me was too knackered to do more.
Father again not very good yesterday, today we are going to see the consultant first. He did say last week to come and see him if we wanted a chat about my father but we didn't because we know what his condition is. Monday night though, the nurse said to us again, if we want to talk to him etc, so I don't know if that was an ' I want to talk to you' couched in a way that won't alarm my father or not. So we'll go today and see.
Hope everyone has a day of small delights

Morning all, raining quite hard here at the moment. If it carries on I expect DH & DS will be rained off and back home. Thanks all for my birthday wishes, after my nice day yesterday without much housework done I could do with a good tidy, but is it worth it when DGS is coming at lunchtime ?:D
I've not even taken the hound out yet, although she's not too fond of rain...
Not sure what to make for tea,but must get the bm on soon.Hopefully it'll last a bit longer as DS2 is cutting down on bread!
Hugs to all the carers & poorly people.
Have a nice day x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0
