Student council tax discount backdated

Hi I am a full time student who meets the criteria to a council tax discount. My question is I wanna not aware of this discount last year when studying and wondered if I could claim for last years amount too? X

t's not a discount, it is zero council tax! You should be able to get it back dated.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. You would be 'disregarded' if you met the criteria to be a full time student - this may lead to a discount or an exemption depending on the specific make-up of the household at that point of time. In most cases backdating can be given.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0
