Hi guys I'm new to this so please be gentle with me hahaha, I had applied for a loan online from a few loan companies , anyway I decided getting a loan from any off them but now i have got companies I have never heard of are going into my bank and taking payments for services i never signed for or would ever sign for like yourdigifootprint.co.uk , they ha e taken £29.95 from my bank ( I'm on PIP and ESA and can't afford these companies taking my money ) anyway I contacted my bank ( Santander ) to report it as fraud and asked them to block this company ( there is now a list of these companies I have had to block ) which they did and I asked them to block my card where they said it wouldn't stop these companies from taking more money from my account and that even blocking them won't stop it as they can go in under a different company name and there is nothing I can do other than close my account down and open another one but the problem with that is the time it takes to change details with the benefits office i rely on my money going into my account and would really struggle if my payments were delayed , surely there is a law against companies sneakily getting you to sign up to these companies without your knowledge and surely if they do take money out of your account there is a way to force these companies to return what they have already taken ? Please someone have good news for me or a solution without my benefits being delayed , I greatly appreciate any input and help offered , Thanks in advance .

did you read the terms and conditions before you gave out your bank details?
go back through them and read the terms and conditions you agreed to and there should be information on how to cancel the payments
  • Complain further and higher to your bank.

It may be wise to have a second bank account opened - and with a more helpful one.

Possibly you can get Citizens Advice help as you are on benefits.

    Why complain to the bank?
They have done nothing wrong but I guarantee you that the OP has agreed to the terms of his loan broker online.
How to stop this and claim a refund (minus £5 they are allowed to keep) has already been discussed.

Cancelation procedure here, took 20 seconds to find it.

Cancel as per the instructions, do the same for the others.
I agree these broker sites can be confusing, but next time read what you are agreeing too before clicking "i agree".

Unfortunately, you did sign up for these services. Why do you think that they asked you for your bank details? ( I'm on PIP and ESA and can't afford these companies taking my money )
Then might I suggest that a loan would have been unaffordable too. anyway I contacted my bank ( Santander ) to report it as fraud and asked them to block this company ( there is now a list of these companies I have had to block )
This was not fraud, you signed up to their services.
which they did and I asked them to block my card where they said it wouldn't stop these companies from taking more money from my account and that even blocking them won't stop it as they can go in under a different company name
This is absolutely not true. They can only collect against any authorities (DD or standing order) that you gave them. You need to rack your brains and try to remember every company that you gave your bank details too, go back to their website, look up their terms and conditions and in each case follow their cancellations procedures. Do it quickly or you will see additional payments going out next month too.
and there is nothing I can do other than close my account down and open another one but the problem with that is the time it takes to change details with the benefits office i rely on my money going into my account and would really struggle if my payments were delayed , surely there is a law against companies sneakily getting you to sign up to these companies without your knowledge
No, they rely on naivety and desperation although most are wise to these guys not as I have not seen a post on this topic for a little while.
and surely if they do take money out of your account there is a way to force these companies to return what they have already taken ? Please someone have good news for me or a solution without my benefits being delayed , I greatly appreciate any input and help offered , Thanks in advance .

This is now a damage limitation exercise on your part and you need to work quickly. As advised, look up and follow all the cancellation procedures.

Its been a long long time since ive been in trouble with one of thse situations. But when i was in trouble i always used to cancel my card and order a new one then stopped them taking any money from my bank. They cant take payment if the old card is no longer active

Unless things have changed since then and the company can magically make card numbers up to take your payment i dont know how it would be possible to take payment if they dont have your card details

Cancelling a card doesn't cancel the agreement. Payments can still be taken from a new card via Visa Updater by the merchants.

How would they get the new card details? Someone would have to give them to the company. Are you telling me that VISA will give them the new card details? I am shocked if this is the case, it must be a fairly new law as it never happened to me many years ago.
