Could you make meat pies in advance (or even buy them) and have them with veg & gravy?
What about pork chops and veg & mash
(I peel my spuds on a sunday and leave in the fridge covered in water until needed during the week, i change the water every other day)
I'll try and think of some more....0 -
how about braising steak with veg and boiled potatoes?
I would do this one in the slow cook, just put braising steak in slow cook with a couple of beef stock cubes and water + veg on a morning before work, then all you have to do is boil the potatoes and serve,:D
I sometimes add garlic granules and corriander for more taste:p'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

Kippers, I like this tip, I have been peeling the pots a day in advance, but I could do a couple of days ahead and keep in fridge. I have a couple of late finishes coming up in december, so will do this thanks :T'If you judge people, you have no time to love them'

Change your hubby?
But seriously, I would be looking at meaty casseroles with potatoes or dumplings. Irish stew? Also things with a mash topping like shepherds pie. Does he eat liver & bacon? That's cheap and very tasty.Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000 -
Had to laugh at that, "change your hubby"
Seriously tho, could he do with some re-training ?Mr Frugal thought he didn't like stuff when we met but I gave it to him anyway, and he realised it wasn't that he didn't like it, it was that he didn't like the way it had been cooked before
:rotfl:
Just a thought - he might be missing out on things he doesn't know he likes ?0 -
You could do broth or soup with crusty bread or croutons, sausage or pork casserole, stews with dumplings or potatoes. You could make curries and have them with chappatis or naan bread instead of rice.
If you have a slow cooker, you could make any of them in minutes and leave it to do its thing. If not, they're all one pot meals so they'd need little more than a bit of stirring.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
2 options - he eats what you prepare, and tells you how delicious it is, or he cooks :j
I did a really easy bake last week - and it was so popular it was requested again for this week. Boil potatoes until nearly done. Cube into an oven dish. Fry onion, garlic and chopped streaky bacon. Add to potatoes, season, and top with grated cheese. Bake at gas 2 for 1 hour.

Fish is fairly quick - serve with white/parsley sauce and veg (frozen or tinned)
Pork chops and veg is quick and easy.
Gammon steaks.
Stir fry - add prawns or chicken or something, chop lots of different veg up (mange tout, baby sweetcorn etc) stirfry and add some sauce (soy sauce, balsamic vinegar and a little runny honey is nice).
Or - get a slow cooker - not had mine long and I love the way you can chop lots of veg the night before, bung in the slow cooker in the morning with chopped meat, sausages whatever, add herbs, pour over sauce/stock or gravy and switch on - then when you come home from work, food is already cooked for you and ready to dish up!! Best kitchen "gadget" I've ever used.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
