  • Thanks @Humdinger1 wow 140k of debt paid off, that is impressive! Yeah my OH finds our childcare arrangements interesting too as on the whole it is pretty amicable.

Today was the day of the month of the financial revolving door...! So kids activities, monthly bills and saving pots were added to. On the positive there is now £40 sitting in the Aus holiday savings account, with another £20 due tomorrow from OH.

The school kindly sent a reminder that next terms after school clubs open next week & the kids of course want to do football so an expense I forgot about. Will cost £55 each kid but cost is shared with Ex H.

Apart from that its been a quite quiet non spends day!

    Hello Tuesday,

Well i've had a wobble on the house move, i'm sure it wont be the first and won't be the last but yes a wobble. Woke at 4am, trouble sleeping because its cold and having the kids on my mind. OH was working his night shift and am messaging him saying I just can't do it, just can't move. Took some deep breaths, relaxed myself and dropped off again. Woke at 7.30 with a bit of a clearer mind thinking I can do the move. I don't want to move but can't see any other options. Night times suck!

Hope anyone reading this has a good day, in daylight i'm determined to have a good day myself and not let the worries take over.

    # Forgot to add, we had another good booking for the holiday let business so chuffed about that :)

  • Hello Thursday,

Its teacher strike day for us here in the big smoke, the kids are back and we are a bit excited. Told little one about the early birthday pressie and he is rather excited to be going to pick it up. The location is a bit akward, away from a train station so will mean a bit of exercise and a longish walk home. Hoping the bike is the right size for kiddo & so he can ride home.

This week so far has been quite full on, yesterday we found out secondary school for eldest. We got the school we wanted so all happy and one less thing to worry about. Its also parents evening this week so having to remember the times and coordinate with ex H. 1 meeting down, 1 to go and we alls good so far!

Sadly, slightly underestimated spends and now in overdraft. Not by much but need to draw a little from savings to top us back up. In a few days credit card moves on to new month so trying really hard to not spend where its not needed but its OH  birthday this weekend so we will see. I need to get him a little pressie, thinking of getting a beer box. Pretty safe with this.

This week we also had a shocking repair bill on holiday let, I was expecting it would be bad and yeah, its bad. Lets just say its challenging and may need to be done in stages.

Hoping for some more surveys and need to add some bits and pieces to ebay.

  • Hello Thursday,

Its a week already since last diary entry and I cannot believe in that time we've had some of the white stuff! It left as quickly as it arrived but managed to take some pics of it in its glory. The one good day to go to the gym :)

So in the past week we had our appointment with mortgage broker, he isn't sure if we would be able to find a lender due to our tricky situation, and being honest I kind expected it. We find out tomorrow if there are any options out there for us. I've been a bit down this week but getting back up there now.

On the financial front, my credit card is quite high, booked train tickets for easter before the prices went up last sunday. This was an unexpected spend as was going to buy after new credit card month but it made sense to buy a bit earlier. Card will be paid off in full. I've been trying to balance out upcoming easter and some March activities and thus have had quite a cheap week. Managed Mon, Tues and Wed as NSD but today need to get some groceries and a water bottle. The house was cold last night so the kids discovered the joy of hot water bottles. Lilttlest has now requested one for himself!

Hope everyone had a wonderful International Womens day yesterday. I was inspired by one local woman who wrote a lovely piece about her mum. Sadly her mum now has dementia but has made me think about who inspires me and I have to say my nan was my inspiration. She was sadly ravaged by ill health but did what she could to lead a normal life and I so love that in her. She's no longer here, but still keeps me going forward.

    Happy soggy Thursday everyone.

  • Hello Friday evening!

Its been quite a productive day. I've been studying a bit today after a very long time of procrastinating. This is for a course I've picked up and put down a few times but now is the time to be brave and take the exams. So now working towards that!

In between study i've been to the gym & finally posted mothers days cards after buying stamps from the post office. I was shocked at just how much a second class stamp costs 68p. Now I don't post that many letters or cards so not really being picky. Also took opportunity to bank the kids pocket money at the Post Office.

Have been waiting all day for the mortgage broker to come back to us, but he didn't, am going to have to wait a bit longer  :/

The kids are back with dad this weekend and  I am going to do a bit of volunteering at a running event. Haven't done this before but looking forward to gettout out for a few hours, just hope its not too cold or wet!!

Apart from that planning to do a bit more study, going for a walk on sunday and need to do household chores. Have a nice evening.

  • Hello to an unexpected sunny Saturday afternoon!

So this mornings plans have completely gone out of the window. Had a terrible nights sleep & been sluggish. Made spiced carrot soup this morning, making good use of lentils that needed using up. Soup tastes yummy, will portion and freeze down for this week's lunches.

Also had a bit of luck on registering for a transcription company i've been following, tests completed so far have passed. More to do but hopefully this goes well and I get registered for work.

Am determined to keep on track with the studying and want to get some fresh air this afternoon and visit one of the lovely local parks.

This evening with OH we are going to enjoy watching Luther with home made curry.

What is the difficulty on the mortgage front?  Are you already on one with your ex or is it do with employment status?  Maybe post on the mortgage forum.  Fingers crossed the broker comes up with something.

Hi @enthusiasticsaver, thanks for taking the time to reply. Luckily ex H is not involved in the mortgage but my new partner is semi retired & our income is from a mix of sources so we don't quite fit the regular mortgage calculator. I have a hunch our mortgage advisor can't be bothered with our case as its a lot of work for small reward as its a low value project. Shame as at this point we just wanted an indication if we could borrow and how much.

The mortgage forums are a good shout though :)

  • A well-experienced mortgage broker can assist you in any of these situations. They are highly experienced in this field and understand how to handle each critical situation and assist you in clearing your mortgage request. My friend once shared her experience of being denied mortgages three times in a row; eventually, she earned her mortgage with the help of an experienced mortgage broker. Obtaining a mortgage is extremely difficult, but it can be made easier with the right advice.
