Burnt Cake

I decided to make a couple of fruit loaves this afternoon.
When my oven timer peeped, the cakes weren't quite ready, so I put them back in for a few more minutes.
I was called away on urgent business......ok so it was a game of Spider Solitaire or 6.
I suddenly remember the cakes, but they are rather well done.
The colour on top looks ok, but the side are a bit biscuity and the bottom is rather crunchy, oh and you know how the currants and dried fruit goes a bit hard/chewy...well that's mine.
Now, I was baking one for OH and one for my grandparents. I'm worried that they will break their false teeth if they try this offering.
Is there any way I can salvage these beasts...or do I risk the birds breaking beaks on them.
