Have you tried a good Cointreau substitute?

in Gone off!
We're having friends round this weekend and I want to try a very simple pud (I'm not much of a cook) but it needs Cointreau - not only is the cheapest I can find £15.00 for the bottle, I know that the rest of it will just sit in a cupboard for months (until Christmas at least).
Had anyone found a cheaper version that is just as good? Wondered if any supermarkets do their own version? Anyone tried them?
Thanks.
