Firstly, an in-house mortgage 'advisor' at an estate agents should be the last person on your list of people to consult. He will be limited in experience and/or qualifications and will only have access to a restricted number of products/lenders. If you want a mortgage go to a proper mortgage broker.

Generalising doesn't benefit anyone. There are plenty of in house brokers who have access to more lenders and more products than a 'whole of market' broker. HSBC doing business with directly authorised yet? There are also a lot of in house brokers that are fully self employed and independent brokers yet rent a desk in a place where buyers and sellers walk through the doors.

I've had run ins with many estate agents and have come across brokers trying to tell clients they have to use them loads of times. But not fair to far everyone with the same brush.

Unless we are talking about Sequence. Their proposition is beyond a joke and they definately try force clients to do business with them. :rotfl:
