Applying for a mortgage - credit score advice

Short version: Would applying for a mortgage only 3 months after applying for a new credit card be a really bad idea? I do not have any credit card debit, I just got a card for rewards and to improve my score.
I wanted to get a mortgage for my first house and was looking at ways to improve my credit score to get the best rates.
May 2019 - Released I wasn't bothering to use my old Virgin credit card as it doesn't even have Apple Pay, so I got a rewards Amex. Unfortunately, I also renewed by mobile contract around this time forgetting it would count as two hard searches.
I now use my Amex wherever possible, and my Virgin Card abroad (0% transition fee) for work purchases. The Amex is always paid off in full, although sometimes I leave a bit on the Virgin card while I claim it through work (I always pay the minimum and never get charged interest).
I wasn't planning to buy the house so soon, but something came up and I wanted to do it now. The problem is that I took a new credit card and mobile contract out in May and guides recommend you leave at least 6 months before applying for a mortgage.
Would I have any major issues if I tried to apply now?
