Is this cheeky?

After a couple of years trying to save for a deposit for a mortgage to buy my first home with my wife, it has got to a point where it seems like an impossible task! Is it cheeky that we started a go fund me page to try and get support? You can only live with your in-laws for so long right?

The bait is a bit too obvious. But well done for trying.
    Mortgage started 2015: £150,000 2016: £130,000 2017: £116,000 2018: £105,000 2019: £88,000 2020: £69,000 2021: £51,195 2023: MORTGAGE FREE!
  • It is you choice to do it or not. It will be the choice of the others to give you anything or not.

It took me 8 years living in HMO to save for a deposit. 2 years in parents place is a way too easy ride.

Advertise it on your local facebook page then watch when people giggle when looking at you in the shops :)

After 2 years with your inlaws surely you should have a nice chunk already without effectively begging. Whether or not you do it, is whether you think it's morally OK to do that.

Maybe instead you should review your spending habits so you can save more. 2 people working full time even on minimum wage would net around £2k a month. Even saving half of that you should have £24k by now. If you were fully committed to the cause or earning more, you'd be saving more.
