Unpaid parking fine, resulted in CCJ now letter from DCBL?

Hello,

Just looking for some advice. I have read over the other posts but none really relating to my situation.

I got a parking ticket through parking eye back in 2016, when I read over everyone told me not to pay as it was a private company ( id not long passed my driving test and was unsure about what to do ) I received numerous letters and was told to just ignore. I then ended up with a CCJ which I have now had for the past 2 years - 3 in April. I’ve not received anything for a while and was just going to ride the CCJ out as it’s already affected my credit.

I recieved a letter yesterday from DCBL about the outstanding fine. They haven’t added a fee on as the amount is the same as the CCJ.
Do I pay to settle the debt or just ignore?
I’m just concerned that if I don’t pay they will come to my parents house.

Thanks in advance.

It's your call. They might turn up there again they might not. Nobody can predict that.

Who told you to ignore it? Perhaps they should pay it for you.

Just so as you are aware, paying off the CCJ should get DCBL off your back, but your credit rating will remain trashed until the six years are up.

On the reverse of the DCBL letter, does it say (words to the effect) that they are not acting as High Court Enforcement Officers in your case?

How much is the CCJ for?

  • Yes I thought the same but reading other posts none really related to my situation as people was saying it could result in ccj in which I already have one so wasn’t sure if it was a different scenario for me.
Yes on the back of the letter it says “ This case is not subject to high court or bailiff action.”
    And £197.

    Thank you.

“ This case is not subject to high court or bailiff action.”
So they are acting as out and out debt collectors. As such, they can be ignored (see NEWBIES FAQ sticky, post #4 about how to deal with debt collectors).

However, as they are chasing a county court judgment, it's not as straightforward as ignoring debt collectors chasing outstanding, basic, parking charges. But to attempt to enforce a CCJ via bailiff action the parking company would have to apply to the court for such. It doesn't seem the case right now, but we can't guarantee what might happen in the future.

You need to very carefully read any further DCBL letters, especially if they come from DCBL Legal (as opposed to Limited). Come back on this thread (don't go starting a new one), so we have the context, for further advice.

They won't be visiting your parents at this stage.

MUI that County Court bailiffs have very limited powers, and High Court Enforcement Officers only become involved if the debt is more than £600.

There is a huge amount of information about this on the internet, why not read some.

OP, you have been given good guidance so far, but just keep in mind that if this does turn into 'bailiff action' then the cost will rise and bailiffs may well turn up at the address.
