Getting deposit back from old Oyster cards

Hello,
I've searched the internet looking for an answer to my question and there is tons of general info to be found, but it doesnt answer my particular question...
Over the last few years I've gone through a few Oyster cards, which most of the time I registered in my oyster account. Every once in a while, a card stopped working, so I'd get a new one, use the option in the account to cancel the old one, transferring the balance to a new card. After a while I realised I wasn't getting the £5 oyster card deposit back!
So now to my specific question: I have 2 oyster cards registered in my account, with £0 balance. But they both have a deposit of £5 each on them. I don't have the physical cards anymore - how can I cancel them in a way that returns my deposit?

Oyster pay as you go credit no longer needed
Otherwise it might be easiest to contact TfL on 0343 222 1234.

It doesn't work with the credit refund, as there is no credit left... I will give them a call.0

I put mine on the ticket machine reader and went the refund route. It asked if I wanted the deposit refunded, answered "Yes" and got me fiver back0

If you don't have the physical cards then it seems the only option is to order a replacement again then as gravedigger said - take physical card to a Tube station and get 5 pound cash. Which might be a pain if you are not now in London.I need to think of something new here...0
