mis-sold sipp. How do I claim?

I was mis-sold a sipp by an FA in 2012 and the company has since gone into liquidation. He was working independently but linked to another company that arranged the transfer of my pension into the sipps (Ethical Forestry and Global Plantations). The official receiver has advised that I make a claim. I contacted a solicitor who has dealt with a number of similar investors and he seems to think I have a case however will take 36% on no win no fee basis. I assume I could do this myself but have no idea where to start. The solicitor suggested that he would probably get more compensation than I would e.g. fees I've paid etc. Any advice would be appreciated?

You dont need a solicitor. The FSCS treat the case identically if you do it compared to a claims chaser. And this is an area where most consumers succeed. The solicitor suggested that he would probably get more compensation than I would e.g. fees I've paid etc.
No you wouldnt as FSCS protection is defined. Are you sure this is a solicitor and not a claims management company? They are already telling you lies and that sounds more like a CMC.
Make your complaint to the FSCS. As simple as that. It is really easy.0 -
Who are you attempting to claim off? The adviser or the SIPP?0

Missold a SIPP or the investments within the SIPP ?
These are two very different things.
From what you've said you should be able to get redress for the latter since only the wealthiest with too much money should have "invested" in the sort of jink you ended up with. And thats not even with hindsight.
As to the former, it depends where the money in the SIPP came from. Was this a DB pension ?
Just be clear what you are complaining about, one or both.0 -
