Discharge Certificate

Sorry if this has been asked and answered somewhere else - I couldn't find anything.
I have been discharged since July 2006 but haven't paid the £60 for the official court certificate to show that. I am desperate to get a better bank acct but my credit report doesn't show that I am discharged so there is little hope of that. Can I get Experian et al to amend the records without the certificate? I have a print off from the official website (can't remember what it is now) that shows my dates but the records only stay there for three months so they will have long gone. Suggestions please???

mmmm, still seeking something witty to be my auto-signature . . . so this will have to suffice for now

This is how to clean up your credit report
Creditors can default the accounts, but it should be a single default dated NO LATER than the date of the bankruptcy order. The account should also be marked somehow to indicate it is satisfied/settled.
Go to the following link to see exactly how your Credit Reference Files and account info should have been correctly updated:
CREDIT REFERENCE FILE CLEAN UP – POST BANKRUPTCY
Then for the accounts that are not correct write the letter in the next link to their "data controller(s)" by recorded delivery.
Letter to former Lenders post Bankruptcy
If they then fail to update your account and records correctly, raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner:
How to raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner
If necessary the Information Commissioner will force them to update correctly, and even fine them heavily if they don't.
The process is a bit lengthy, but it always gets the job done.

Do you have the letter from your OR to say you are discharged? I think it is ok to use this.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0 -
Thank you so much, that's really useful information! I had been advised about the website I mentioned so I just went there on the appropriate date and found the info. I never actually received a letter from the OR saying I was discharged.mmmm, still seeking something witty to be my auto-signature . . . so this will have to suffice for now
