Thanks for replying. Here what model Gtech did you get, there are so many.
    Thanks

    The new one is https://www.gtech.co.uk/cordless-vacuum-cleaners/airram-k9.html

There was a discount code in the Saturday Times which brought the price down to £181.

Sorry, don't have the newspaper anymore.

Have a gtech. I wouldnt recommend for any surface and never woord floors. Suddenly it will spit it all back out onto your floor. Henry, every time.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Hi. Sorry to show ignorance, but is there some problem with Dyson mechanically or is it just a preference?

    Thanks for additional replies.
I didn't know that there was a mini Henry or that there was a cordless version. I will definitely consider these as I am a great fan of Henrys in general. There are so many versions of these already, so research needed. Anyone got a cordless Henry to comment?

Also the Miele C1. It seems Miele don't do cordless?

I'll also consider the Gtech one if I can see one about.

I've decided on a budget of around £150.
Have since been back to JL to look at their offerings in the flesh. What really strikes me is how flimsy the plastics are on most of them, look like they'd hardly take a knock. Especially the stick versions.

Anyway they didn't have Henrys or the Miele in stock to see so will look elsewhere to see them first before deciding finally.
    Thanks

Definitely go and have a look at them in the flesh - and go somewhere where you can pick them up to test the weight. We have a Miele upright and it's fab, but it's built like a tank and is so heavy.

Found a photo of the offer I had taken:
    JV92
with five free fragrance packs and the hand cleaner handle etc
Takes the cost down from £279.98 to £181.98

Can't vouch for it still being valid though it's worth a try.

Free next business day delivery too.

Thanks Gers for that. Too pricey for the very light duties required. Also, do not want to buy two, seems a waste to me and hate the thought of buying without a need. One that is mobile for around the house is the target.

Still, on the hunt. Meanwhile, an aquaintance recommended a Bosch which sounds ideal, though I know nothing of it.

    Anyone have a Bosch Readyy'y BBHL2M21GB?
Sold at JL and looks to have everything I want without frills, and £139 on sale.
    Anyone?

Yet to go see the Henry cordless and a Miele in the flesh.

    Thanks

Well, thanks for all the suggestions but went with something else in the end. Liked the Miele but not cordless. The Henry cordless was a bit too bulky for the stairs.
Wasn't able to see the Bosch in the flesh but then saw it online for £129 (RRP £245) and took the plunge. At that price seemed worth a gamble.

Only had it a few days but all good so far. Very very light, great for wood floors and rugs and very unfussy (always a plus) and seems very well made, no flimsy plasticy bits like other sticks. Time will tell. Would definitely recommend for someone needing a lightweight and easy to manoever vacuum.

    Thanks
