Car and bankruptcy

Are there any people on here who have experience of keeping their car?
My car that I use to get to work and take my daughter to school is valued on Parker’s guide at a resale value of £2,000.
I’m told you can only have a car of £1,000 in value. Is this correct?
I’m debating whether to sell it myself and get a lower value car or to wait until I’m actually going through the process and told to sell it by the OR.

Very few posters have been able to keep a car worth more than £1000 unless there are mitigating circumstances - disability adapted/long distance driving for work/chauffeur vehicle which is main source of income etc.
Might be worth waiting to see what the OR says though.0 -
My car was valued at £1500, I count myself very lucky to be able to keep it, this was in 2012, I had the most understanding examiner and he was very understanding.
I would say wait for your interview and take it from there.0 -

Parkers guide, is only that, a guide, condition is everything where value is concerned, £2000 may be high end for a good condition, low milage example, yours may not be that good, or as low a milage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
